Mica Ollila, LCSW

Mica works with adults and couples who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that are affecting how they feel about themselves and their relationships. Many of her clients struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, difficult family dynamics, or the lasting impact of painful childhood experiences.

Mica brings a warm, compassionate presence to therapy and helps clients better understand their emotions, communicate their needs, set healthier boundaries, and build stronger relationships. Her approach is collaborative and practical, creating a space where clients can feel understood while also learning skills that help create meaningful change.

How Mica Works

Mica uses an evidence-based, personalized approach tailored to each client and what they hope to change. Therapy with Mica often focuses on:

  • Understanding emotions and patterns that may be keeping you stuck
  • Managing anxiety, stress, and overwhelming emotions
  • Building confidence and a stronger sense of self-worth
  • Learning to communicate needs and set healthy boundaries
  • Healing from difficult or traumatic childhood experiences
  • Creating healthier, more connected relationships

For clients whose past experiences continue to affect their lives today, Mica helps them understand those connections without allowing the past to define their future. She combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, relaxation and mind-body strategies, and other evidence-based approaches to help clients develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Mica also works with couples who feel disconnected, misunderstood, or caught in the same conflicts over and over. Drawing from her training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, she helps partners better understand one another, improve communication, and rebuild emotional connection.

Mica’s goal is to help clients feel more confident in who they are, clearer about what they need, and better equipped to create healthier relationships with themselves and the people who matter to them.

Areas of Focus

Mica works with adults, older adults, and couples experiencing:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress
  • Depression and low mood
  • Relationship and communication difficulties
  • Couples and marital concerns
  • Low self-esteem and self-worth
  • Boundaries and people-pleasing
  • Childhood trauma and difficult family experiences
  • Life transitions and changing relationships

She is especially passionate about helping people understand how earlier experiences may be influencing their emotions and relationships today — and giving them practical tools to create healthier patterns moving forward.

Background and Experience

Mica earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Missouri Southern State University and her Master of Social Work from Kennesaw State University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri and Indiana and is also a Certified Trauma Professional.

Mica’s professional experience has allowed her to work with people across nearly every stage of life and with a wide variety of emotional, behavioral, and relationship concerns.

Before graduate school, Mica provided tutoring and mentorship to teenage boys transitioning from juvenile detention back into their communities. She later provided individual and group therapy to women who were survivors of sex trafficking.

After graduate school, Mica worked as an individual and family therapist with children and their families, helping strengthen relationships and create healthier family dynamics. She later worked in integrated behavioral healthcare at Ferrell-Duncan Clinic, providing mental and behavioral health treatment to clients ranging from children to older adults.

These diverse experiences have shaped Mica’s compassionate, curious, and non-judgmental approach. She understands that emotional health doesn’t exist in isolation — our relationships, past experiences, physical health, stress, and everyday circumstances can all affect how we feel and function.

Training and Ongoing Development

In addition to her formal education and clinical experience, Mica has specialized training in:

  • Trauma-informed treatment
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Relaxation and mind-body strategies
  • Tobacco cessation and behavior change

She continues to pursue professional development that helps her support clients with both emotional well-being and the everyday behaviors that affect overall health.

What Clients Can Expect

Clients working with Mica can expect a therapist who is:

  • Warm, compassionate, and approachable
  • Curious and genuinely interested in understanding their experience
  • Collaborative rather than judgmental
  • Focused on both insight and practical change
  • Attentive to relationships, connection, and emotional needs

Mica creates a supportive space where clients can better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and begin making changes that feel more aligned with the life they want to live.
