Gabriela (Gabby) Tyson is a dedicated mental health professional currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Evangel University, with aspirations to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Originally from Willard, MO, Gabby graduated with the Class of 2020 before earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychological Sciences and Pre-Medicine from William Jewell College in May 2024. During her time at William Jewell, she was an active member of the Track and Field team, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and the Pre-Health Honors Society. Gabby’s collegiate accomplishments include being named to the Dean’s List, earning four-time Academic All-Conference GLVC honors in Track and Field, and receiving the Team Leadership Award and serving as a captain for the Women’s Track and Field team.
Gabby’s decision to become a counselor is deeply personal. Growing up in a single-parent Hispanic household, she witnessed the stigma surrounding mental health and faced many challenges in silence. When she did speak out, her feelings were often dismissed, and she was told she was simply seeking attention. It wasn’t until later in life, when she encountered supportive mentors and counselors, that she finally felt truly seen and understood. These mentors played a pivotal role in shaping her journey toward becoming a mental health professional. Inspired by their support, Gabby is now passionate about offering that same understanding and guidance to others. She is committed to being a voice for those who feel marginalized, listening to those who feel unheard, and creating a safe, supportive space where individuals can embrace their struggles, heal, and know they are not alone.
While Gabby is not yet seeing patients as a therapist, she is an intricate part of the team. She works closely with Dr. Cline in managing clinic operations and providing elite care to each of our patients.
