Jeremy Howard, M.S.

Jeremy works with teens, young adults, men, and women. He uses an integrative approach that includes EMDR, sandtray therapy, and other evidence-based methods to help clients overcome challenges related to trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem,  and substance use. He brings a calm, supportive presence and creates a space where healing and growth feel possible.

Education

Jeremy was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and has remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life and career. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Memphis.

In addition to his formal education, Jeremy has completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and sandtray therapy. These approaches allow him to work more effectively with clients recovering from trauma and provide creative, evidence-based tools for emotional healing.

He continues to pursue ongoing professional development to deepen his expertise in trauma-informed care, addiction recovery, and integrative therapeutic techniques.

Experience

Jeremy began his career working in a nonprofit setting that offered wraparound services to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. In this role, he provided both individual and group counseling, helping clients navigate complex emotional, medical, and social challenges. The organization also offered on-site services like preschool education, rent and utility assistance, and access to basic needs — giving Jeremy a strong foundation in holistic, community-based care.

He then transitioned into working at a residential treatment center for adults facing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The program emphasized work ethic and accountability as part of its therapeutic approach and served many individuals who were transitioning out of the criminal justice system. Jeremy facilitated both individual and group counseling sessions, supported job readiness, and helped clients develop the life skills needed for long-term recovery. He also worked closely with an on-site GED program and local employers to ensure continuity of care after graduation.

In his most recent role before joining the practice, Jeremy provided outpatient counseling services to a wide range of clients — from children to adults — many of whom were referred through the juvenile justice system or recently released from incarceration. He also worked under contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) and the United States Probation Office (USPO), delivering therapy to individuals re-entering society and offering specialized support for those with complex legal and emotional needs.

These experiences have given Jeremy deep insight into how trauma, addiction, and systemic barriers affect mental health — and how tailored, compassionate care can help people reclaim their lives.
